Opeth Album To Boast Appearance By Weather Report Drummer

According to reports, the forthcoming Opeth album, Herirage, will boast a very special guest appearance.

By who? Why, by Peruvian drummer and percussionist Alex Acuña, that’s who.
Wait a minute — who? Why not get a special guest who we’ve actually heard of and Opeth respects? Say, like, Andrew Latimer of Camel.

The internet tells me that Acuña actually played with fusion/prog jazz outfit Weather Report, and performed and recorded recorded with Elvis Presley, Peter Gabriel, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and the Cult.

Heritage will be released on September 20 through Roadrunner Records. The CD was produced by Opeth’s own Mikael Åkerfeldt and was recorded earlier this year at Atlantis studios (formerly Metronome studios) in Stockholm. Mixing duties were handled by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree fame.
