Yes, Pantera fans — this Thursday, we get to hear new Pantera.
Actually, tonight, right before the drab Golden Gods Awards, the video for “Piss” will debut. So that will be the official debut of the song. The next day, though, you will be able to buy the song as a single via most online music outlets.
The fact that “Piss” premieres before the Golden Shower Awards is kind of hilarious in its own way. That awards show is a sham that’s basically a means for Revolver to sell more ads.
Of course, “Piss” is the first new Pantera song we’re hearing in years, and likely the last unreleased material we’ll hear from the defunct band.
The song “was recorded at the same time as Vulgar Display Of Power and it’s 100 percent Pantera with attitude and our signature groove,” says drummer Vinnie Paul of “Piss.” “After mixing it, I can’t believe it didn’t make the record! So it’s 2012 and 20 years later and new Pantera music has been delivered.”
Pantera were without question one of the Top 20 metal bands of all time. Maybe even Top 10. That is all.
“Piss” will appear on the reissue of Vulgar that Rhino’s releasing May 15.
