This sounds like it could be most phat.
PHILM — the Los Angeles-based experimental post-hardcore band featuring Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, guitarist and vocalist Gerry Nestler from Civil Defiance, and War bassist Pancho Tomaselli — has been confirmed for the Slaughter By The Water festival.
That’s set to take place on August 25 aboard the decommissioned USS Hornet flight carrier docked in Alameda, California.
That sounds awesome.
Absu, Abysmal Dawn, Autopsy, Fog of War, Impaled, Severed Fifth, and Witchaven are also confirmed for the fest.
The USS Hornet — 893 feet long and 33,000 tons of metal — is nicknamed “The Grey Ghost in Alameda” and is said to be one of the most haunted warships in the American Navy, with numerous reports of supernatural events occurring onboard.
The boat is also a “Rosie the Riveter” ship with thirty percent of her construction crew being women and she holds a couple Navy records: most planes shot down in a day (72) and most planes shot down in a month (255).
The USS Hornet was also where Exodus filmed the video for the song “War Is My Sheppard.”
