Porcupine Tree’s “Bonnie The Cat” Video: No Cats

Hot wire puppet action

I was expecting at least one feline would be featured in English prog metallers Porcupine Tree’s new video for “Bonnie the Cat.” But instead, my eyes witnessed cigarette-smoking wire figure foreplay — and possibly a hummer. The clip revolves around these robotic-looking wire-based (in lieu of carbon-based) characters who look like they could have been android slaves from Star Wars. Then there are all these pretty lights, and the aforementioned fornication, and then, it’s over. Not one fucking cat in the whole video. How hard is it to get a cat for a video? False advertising, my friends.

Let me just stop right here and say I love Porcupine Tree. Steven Wilson is the man. Even his solo disc was dope. I saw them open for Yes once and caught them on that tour they did with Opeth. I’m a big fan. I just don’t see why they had to lure me in with promise of a cat, and then scar me for life with images like the one you see at the top of this post.

Of course, its a Porcupine Tree video, so it makes no sense at all. There’s no embed code, so you have to visit Roadrunner Records’ site to watch it. What do you think it means? I haven’t the foggiest idea.
