Ramones Movie Coming From Scorsese

Oscar-winning director signs on for biopic

The Ramones aren’t a metal band, as such. But without them, it’s hard to imagine heavy metal even happening.

As Randy Blythe suggested, no Ramones = no Lamb of God.

I am glad to see a Ramones biopic is in the works, with Martin Scorsese on board to direct.

There is no timetable or writer for the film yet, which Scorsese could begin shooting after he finishes his next project, “Silence,” next year.

The movie news comes on the heels of word that 2016 will see a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Ramones self-titled debut album.

Those plans include a documentary separate from Scorsese’s film, a play and a book about the band’s early years.

All four of the original Ramones are now dead.

The last was drummer Tommy Ramone, who passed away earlier this year.
