Newly revived stoner doom dealers Sleep have rolled out a host of new tour dates to celebrate their return. The tour, dubbed the Marijuanaut’s Return, kicks off September 3 in Monticello, New York, and will likely sell out in every city it hits, because of how hugely influential these guys were on a number of bands
Of course, Sleep includes High on Fire frontman Matt Pike and Neurosis’ Jason Roeder in place of Chris Hakius, and this band were just filthy and rifftacular, with bass lines as thick as Aunt Jemima. On Sleep’s upcoming trek, they’ll be performing their seminal LP, 1993’s Holy Mountain, in its entirety, as well as selections from the band’s final offering, 2003’s posthumously-released Dopesmoker.
Providing support on the trek along various stops on the tour will be Doomriders, Unearthly Trance, A Storm of Light, Lichens, YOB, and Thrones. Now, if we could only get Sleep to get back in the studio. Then…THEN, I’d be beyond psyched.
