Readers’ Bands: From Russia, Here’s Grenouer

The band specializes in so-called “alternative metal”

The thing about this column, which highlights unsigned or lesser-known bands with members who read the site, is that we don’t discriminate.

If you read this site, and your band is shit, it’s not as though I’m going to delete your email seeking coverage. I’ll still give the group a write up, but I will be dead honest about the degree of sucktitude.

I think I know my readership, and so I can honestly say Grenouer is not a band most of GSA’s followers will like.

The band hails from Russia, and describes its sound as “alternative metal.”

In my opinion, there isn’t much about the band’s sound that resembles metal. In fact, if someone were to tell me Grenouer were a Linkin Park cover band, I might believe them.

The band’s lead singer, Andrey Ind, sent me a “100%-not-spam” email not that long ago, seeking some ink for Grenouer’s album Blood On The Face.

“I know that is quite annoying and that you might be receiving hundreds of similar requests, still after all – you are a music webzine and we are a band… so, please let us know if you feel any interest to check and to review our album,” he writes.

I wish I could say I was a fan, but I really don’t dig Grenouer at all. Maybe you will. Check out one of their songs at the end of this post.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, that lead singer kinda creeps me out — I’m not going to lie.

Especially in the video, when he’s dancing and getting down to the beat.

That’s a visual I won’t soon forget.
