Readers’ Bands: Giza Is Really Pretty Rad

If you dig slow sludgy doom, check out this instrumental Seattle band

Regular readers of the blog know how I feel about instrumental bands. The whole time I just keep waiting for the vocals to kick in, but it never happens.

Kind of like when I watch soccer. I just want them to pick up the fucking ball already, and they never do.

We received an email a while back from the dudes in Giza, a Seattle band that expressed appreciation for the Gunshy style.

“We play instrumental apocalyptic sludge and doom metal,” says Giza. “We’d like to submit our music for consideration on your esteemed site.”

Well, that’s cool. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to actually get around to writing about you guys, but holy shit, are you rad.

If you dig slow, crushing doom, then proceed to the end of this post to listen to Giza.

The band, in May of 2012, recored six songs with Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis) which were released in January of 2013. Giza is currently playing shows throughout the Pacific Northwest, so catch them live if you can.
