We get emails fairly regularly from folks looking for coverage of their band, and so a while back, we set up this column to showcase the groups out there whose members actually check out the site.
Mike Burton and the Silent Line of Edmonton reached out recently to give Gunshy props and to send us some tracks, which I did check out — and I must say, they were, for the most part, pretty nasty. Excellent stuff, actually.
Silent Line hail from Edmonton and are melodic death metal influenced by the likes of Amon Amarth, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates. They boast a keyboardist and regular readers know how I feel about their inclusion in metal. But with these dudes, they weren’t as prevalent as they can be in other bands; the keys didn’t take over.
“We’re all long-time readers and consider Gunshy to be the main source of our metal news, it would be a real honor just to be mentioned by you,” says Mike.
They’ve shared the stage with Into Eternity, 3 Inches of Blood and Goatwhore, and you’ll probably see why at the end o this post.
“Keep up the great writing, your style makes for an interesting read even if the topic isn’t the most intriguing,” says Mike.
Well, thanks dude. My ass has been sufficiently kissed. Now let’s all watch the band freeze their sweet bippies off in the woods somewhere.
