You’ve gotta respect a band with three guitarists.
I’m pretty sure you have to respect that. Whatever. All I know is three guitarists seems to work just fine for Panthallasa, who hail from the fertile soils of Des Moines, Iowa.
One of the band’s guitarists — longtime reader G. Michael Peter — contacted us some time ago to clue us on on his band, who I like quite a bit.
I like Panthallasa for the same reasons I dig bands like Coalesce and Refused: They’re savage, loud, spastic and unrelenting. They make music that speaks to some part of me. Some very manic part.
You can check out one of their tunes at the end of this post. I actually suggest you listen to it.
“Big fan of your blog, although I will be honest I don’t always see eye to eye with you. Anyway, I play in a band; not asking you to write about us or anything unless you feel so inclined. I just wanted to share what we’re doing with you.”
And I will share what you’re doing with my audience, because you guys are fucking solid — with a dynamic vocalist who’s got pipes that harken back to an era long ago. A time before my pubes came in fully.
Download the band’s three songs here.
Let’s hope they crank out more tunes soon, because three’s not enough.
