The fine folks over at TheGauntlet have been talking to people — people who claim Jeff Hanneman of Slayer was well aware of his health situation, and was on a list for a liver transplant.
Jeff died from live failure yesterday.
But TheGauntlet claims “Jeff was seeking treatment and had been sober for two months, a condition of being on the liver transplant list.”
Four stages of liver disease exists. Jeff, the site claims, was at stage four two months ago.
“He sought treatment earlier this year and specialists informed him he needed a new liver and he was placed on a liver transplant list,” says TheGauntlet.
“Those closest to him thought with him being sober, he’d pull through everything okay. Jeff knew he had a problem earlier in the year when he began getting drunk after a beer or two. This is a sign that the liver is no longer able to function and process the alcohol from the blood.”
Jeff wasn’t even 50 years old at the time of his death.
