San Francisco thrash legends Death Angel have revealed that Rodrigo y Gabriela, the much-loved Mexican duo who specialize in fast, acoustic guitar-playing, are among the guests who appear on their upcoming album, Relentless Retribution.
The disc, which features a dozen tracks including “Claws In So Deep,” “Into the Arms of Righteous Anger,” and “Death of the Meek,” also features a guitar solo from Jason Suecof on the track “Truce.” Suecof, of course, is the much-sought producer who has worked with the likes of Trivium, Job For a Cowboy, and God Forbid; he helmed the Death Angel disc, which drops September 14, at his Audio Hammer Studios in Florida.
I’ve got to admit, I’m excited to hear this collaboration between Death Angel and Suecof. Jason is a phenomenal producer, who — as most inside the industry know — has actually re-written some very big bands’ entire albums for them. I doubt that happened with the likes of Death Angel…I’m just curious to see how Suecof’s stamp impacts the band’s thrash guitars, in particular. For those who don’t know, Suecof is also a member of Charred Walls of the Damned and once led the mock metal outfit Crotchduster.
