And to me, it sounds like Devin Townsend covering Empire-era Queensrÿche. The music is fucking phenomenal, but those vocals…good grief! They just confuse me.
I was expecting them to be…well, more like Scar Symmetry. I expected death metal growls and grunts, but on the track “Illuminoid Dream Sequence” — which can be streamed after the jump — those cleans vocals kick in, and my eyebrows shot up to kiss my hairline. Then, the confusion set in.
Scar Symmetry’s new album The Unseen Empire has been scheduled for an April 15 European release through Nuclear Blast. We’re still waiting on word of a North American release date. Now go listen to that song and tell us what you think.
