I don’t know much about Sick Drummer Magazine’s Sick Drummer Camp, but it sounds awesome.
They’ve just announced the second five-day Sick Drummer Camp will be held the third week of August in Northern California, about an hour north of San Francisco on a five-acre private retreat.
And holy shit, did they nab some sick drummers to head the instruction.
Those drummers are Derek Roddy from Hate Eternal, Nile, and Today is The Day; Sean Reinert of Cynic and Death; Darkane’s Peter Wildoer; Marco Minnemann for Necrophagist and Kreator; Cryptopsy’s Flo Mounier; Eric Moore of Suicidal Tendencies; and Intronaut’s Danny Walker.
A press release says this retreat is amazing and offers seclusion, various class/performance spaces, lounge areas, hot tubs, an inground pool, billiards, hiking trails and much more. Attendees will be close to nearby stores, shopping, restaurants, wineries, a casino and many other attractions.
This is not only a chance for you to learn from some of the best drummers available, but a chance to hang out with them for a week!
You will be learning from, eating with the instructors and pretty much getting to know them over the course of the event. This is not your average drum camp, but more of an adventure/experience. You will not only walk away with what you have learned, but with some new friends in the drumming world and what is bound to be one of the best experiences of your life.
Who knows? You all might get along so well, you’ll start a super drumming group. Or maybe you may end up joining Necrophagist! That would be fucking sick. Then you could make sure they are actually working on a new album.
