That’s the rumor being perpetrated by the folks at Blabbermouth.
The site claims that tonight, at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where Led Zeppelin will not be reuniting, Paul McCartney will be playing with the surviving members of Nirvana as part of the 12/12/12 show, benefiting victims of Superstorm Sandy.
By the way — Happy 12/12/12.
Citing reports from British tabloids, Blabbermouth quotes the Beatle, who discussed his rehearsal for tonight’s event, which will be broadcast everywhere.
McCartney says he called Grohl, who asked him to come and “jam with some mates.” Soon, he found himself playing with Grohl on drums, Krist Novoselic on bass and Pat Smear on guitar.
“I didn’t really know who they were,” says Sir Oblivious.
“They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ‘Whoa? You guys haven’t played together for all that time?’ And somebody whispered to me, ‘That’s Nirvana. You’re Kurt.’ I couldn’t believe it.”
If this proves true…holy shit, that’d be weird. I hope they play “Negative Creep.”
