As I’m sure you all read yesterday, Skeletonwitch have probably parted ways with their frontman, Chance Garnette.
Garnette is no longer listed as the band’s singer on Facebook, and Skeletonwitch announced yesterday that they’ve recruited a fill-in for their upcoming shows overseas. Meanwhile, Dustin Boltjes, Skeletonwitch’s drummer and one of this site’s columnists, hasn’t responded to my email asking for clarification on Chance’s status with the band.
Fortunately, reader Josh Smick did some digging online yesterday after reading about Skeletonwitch possibly parting with Chance, and happened upon something rather interesting.
When Skeletonwitch performed in Brooklyn on October 18, Chance’s brother, guitarist Nate Garnette, explained at the show’s outset that the singer had to return to Ohio “to take care of some personal” matters.
Well, it turns out that a Chance Garnette, 42, of Athens, Ohio, actually appeared in court in Worcester, Massachusetts, two days later, according to records.
Chance had been charged with “assault and battery on a family/household member.”
Garnette posted $500 bail and was released.
How much you wanna bet that “family/household member” Chance assaulted was Nate?
I’m sure the truth will come out soon enough. It has to.
