At the end of this post, you’ll see some video shot during yesterday’s memorial for fallen Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman.
None of the video features a man with a machete and a knife, hands bloodied, with the Westboro Baptist Church in the background, twitching from the pain of multiple stab wounds. Sadly.
In addition to hundreds of Slayer fans, yesterday’s event featured Slayer members Kerry King and Dave Lombardo, Exodus’ Gary Holt, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, frustrated System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian, Robb Flynn of Machine Head, Testament’s Paul Bostaph, Chuck Billy, and John Tempesta.
What — no Tom Araya?
The event was held yesterday afternoon (Thursday, May 23) at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California.
Pics from the event are featured here.
I’m bummed I couldn’t be there. But I live on the wrong coast, son.
Jeff Hanneman is gone, people. It’s still so hard to believe. Riff in peace, dude.
