Oh yes, folks. They put out — what? — three albums, and now, because they’re playing Rockstar Mayhem Festival all summer long and need to have something new in stores to justify it, a Slipknot greatest hits is on the way.
The video at the end of this post popped up online, with no explanation. It features the band’s DJ Sid Wilson doing what he does.
The video was titled “Antennas To Hell” and teased the date of July 17, 2012.
Since then, frontman Corey Taylor has gone and ruined the mystery, saying that July 17 is when the Slipknot best of hits stores.
“I believe 7.17.12 is when the Slipknot greatest hits album drops,” he Tweets.
“To anyone asking, Slipknot is not currently working on an album. Yet. We are putting together demos, but we’re not recording. Yet.”
He also made mention of it being “11 days till the meaning of HoGaB is revealed.” I guess that, supposedly, is some sort of reference to the title for the forthcoming Stone Sour album.
Taylor has also confirmed the band is “putting together demos” for its next studio album, which it is expected to begin recording in 2013. So, it seems Corey’s had a change of heart on the matter.
