Two minutes is a long time. A lot can happen in two minutes. You could make a bag of microwave popcorn. Run close to half-a-mile. Masturbate; at least I can. I mean, in football, during those last two minutes, everything can change. Two minutes is a long fucking time. Especially when you’re not doing anything.
According to Corey Taylor, when Slipknot play the Sonisphere Festival in the U.K. on July 10, there will be two minutes of silence for late bassist Paul Gray.
“At Knebworth at 2 p.m. on the 10th, we are going to observe a two-minute silence for Paul — in honor of him,” said Taylor. “I’m really, really glad that everyone has responded to it and are ready to join us for it. It’s gonna be pretty heavy and I’m looking forward to feeling that. There’s something to be said about that which is so loud and so much louder than this band. It’ll be good for everyone to pay their respect.”
Dude, what are the chances a bunch of drunk concertgoers are going to be able to shit the fuck up for two whole minutes? You know dudes are going to be yelling “Fuck yeah” or “Slayer” during those two minutes. No way there’s going to be absolute silence.
I’d love it if someone screamed out “Baba Booey.” Love it.
