That’s the word, folks. I guess Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison’s tired of fucking waiting around for the rest of the Slipknot dudes to mourn the death of Paul Gray, and plans on striking out on his own.
In a new interview, Joey says that he will be forming a new band within the “near future with a lot of the material I’ve been writing lately. I don’t want to release too much but I have been in the studio and I think people will be pretty surprised at what I come up with. It’s heavy! But [Slipknot] is all I care about right now. We are one of a kind, for sure. No one will ever be like us.”
I don’t buy it. Joey, as far as I can tell, is pissed that the rest of Slipknot isn’t as eager to get back into a studio. I feel like the dude’s resentful. Furthermore, I am of the opinion — the sheer opinion — that Joey’s non-Slipknot musical droppings have sucked utter shit.
Joey also spoke on Paul’s death, which we’re coming up on the two year anniversary of.
“It’s so tragic and it’s horrible, but life has to go on and the last thing [Gray] would ever want is for us to throw in the towel,” says Joseph.
“I miss my friend very, very much and no matter what he’ll still be on every Slipknot record, spiritually. And we have a lot that we’ve written together that hasn’t seen the light of day yet, some monster riffs. I will miss him forever but you can’t sit and wallow and make excuses for not continuing Slipknot.”
