You may recall a bunch of weeks ago that Disturbed were forced to nix two weeks of gigs after singer David Draiman came down with some sort of “throat infection.” Now, we are finding out that David sort of skirted the truth about the whole throat infection thing. It was more of a throat inflammation.
Of course, no one tried to kill David Draiman…at least not to my knowledge. I was just joking about that. Or…was…I?
Draiman told Metal Hammer that he was receiving “allergy shot therapy, and in the middle of the touring cycle an injection that was supposed to be administered at 0.05 of a particular concentration was injected at 0.5 to 10 times more than I was supposed to get.”
Draiman went into severe “anaphylactic shock. Airwaves constricted, blood pressure plummeting. I was on oxygen for hours and still my blood pressure was way, way low. This was the day before we were supposed to play three shows in a row and the residual inflammation that came from the allergic reaction meant that I couldn’t heal from it in the middle of the touring cycle. My vocal cords were pretty beaten up: seeing them on a stroboscope was pretty scary. They told me if I sang I’d be risking permanent damage.”
Dude…that’s fucking no fun. What the hell? I wonder if Disturbed’s crew “took care” whoever administered that injection. Maybe arranged a nice little accident…you never know. But that’s crazy, people. What the fuck? Just goes to show you that it’s never just an “infection.”
This is the last week you can sign up for our newsletter and be entered into a drawing for a Black Dahlia Murder skate deck, signed by frontman and Gun Shy Assassin scribe Trevor Strnad.
