The last 24 hours have been kind of trying at my house, to say the least. My girlfriend and I awoke yesterday to find her cat, Cinco, in dire shape. His right eye was bleeding; this, after months of treatments for persistent nosebleeds.
Cinco — a street cat she adopted three years ago, and whom I fell in love with little more than three months ago, when she moved in with me — was 13 or maybe 14 years old. His face proved his toughness; he bore the scars of countless cat fights, and even had a chunk missing from one of his ears. His shit’s could clear a room…hence my nickname for him: Stinko.
He was a tough little guy, who loved yarn, sitting in the sun, and tuna…and now he’s now gone. We had him put down late yesterday.
This has nothing to do with the Sound & Fury Festival lineup, which follows at the end of this post. But I am getting to it.
Cinco was a sexy bastard with amazing coloring, bright green eyes, and a meow that often sounded like he was saying the word “Now.” As in, feed me now you foolish white man. He was awesome, and lived for snuggling. I will miss him, because he made me appreciate my late cat Dante even more than I did.
Here’s to you Cinco. You were in my life for a very short time, but left an indelible imprint on it. I’m tearing up as I write this, because I know it’s just going to be lonely around here, and we’ll be in mourning for a while.
Poor Cinco. Anyways, if you came to this post for information for this year’s “Sound & Fury Festival” in Santa Barbara, California, here’s your reward.
The following is an alphabetical list of the bands appearing at the fest, set to take over the Earl Warren Showgrounds between July 20 and July 22.
