Spider Species Named After Dave Mustaine

The Aphonopelma Davemustainei

That’s funny. I name most of my bowel movements “Dave Mustaine,” right before I flush ‘em down the porcelain cave.

I kid. Who names their shits? If you do, email me. I need to know why you do this.

So, a newly-discovered species of tarantula has been named after Megadeth’s singer.

The hairy, mammoth arachnid belongs to the Theraphosidae family of spiders, according to reports.

The spider, which was given the Latin-sounding name Aphonopelma Davemustainei, was recently discovered in southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona by Brent E. Hendrixson, Ph.D.

Mustaine posted a picture of a male and female Aphonopelma Davemustainei on Twitter and Facebook, and boasted of the honor.

“How cool is this? I got my own tarantula named after me! Totally metal,” says Dave.

I guess that is pretty metal. I’ll let Dave have this one.
