I first reported maybe two years ago that Porcupine Tree are, for all intents and purposes, done.
Since then, Steven Wilson’s solo career keeps him awfully busy, and he’s basically told folks that Porcupine Tree are in a state of limbo at present.
This report claims that Wilson’s saying now that his solo career’s his chief focus.
“Blackfield has made a new record, though I’m not as involved with it as much as I once was,” Wilson comments.
“Aviv [Geffen], my partner in Blackfield, wrote all of the songs, but I helped him to produce and record, and I sang on a few songs. They have some great guest singers, so Blackfield is certainly moving forward. The last thing I want to be doing is holding other people back.”
He then explained things with Porcupine Tree are tricky.
“It can’t really happen without me instigating it, being the main writer and director,” he says. “I don’t have time in my life to do that and do what I’m doing now. I guess I have made the decision, right now, to concentrate on the solo career.
“But that’s not to say the band has broken up or anything like that. It’s always conceivable that we could get back together in a year or five years, or 10 years. I really can’t say — there are no plans at the moment.”
Fuck anyone who second-guessed me on this shit previously.
