Which is not saying much.
Am I right or am I right? I listen to Stone Sour tunes and I can’t help but think that, if not for the presence of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor’s voice, I’d assume they were Nickelback demos. I mean, Stone Sour is rock for the fuck of it, and I know a bunch of people dig them. But really, I’ve never understood the appeal. Guess that’s why I’m no Roadrunner A&R man.
I mean, listen to the song posted after the jump, and see for yourself. Try and tell me it doesn’t sound like Nickelback. I guess, if I had to listen to radio rock, Stone Sour wouldn’t be a bad option. But that’s the beauty of America: I don’t have to listen to radio rock. I can listen to metal, or…I know, I could listen to metal.
See, I just can not justify listening to Stone Sour when there are Slipknot records in my collection, and about 20 new metal albums on my desk. Its just so fucking poppy and generic. But I guess that’s what sells. Bummer that the world is the way it is, but, again, I don’t make the fucking rules. Here’s that new Stone Sour track everyone’s been linking to today. Its called “Say You’ll Haunt Me” and its from the band’s forthcoming LP, Audio Secrecy. Too bad they won’t just keep it to themselves.
