I’m a NWOBHM junkie. There was a short period where all I listened to was fourth tier NWOBHM acts and if a band had released more than a demo and one EP, I didn’t even want to know about the guys.
I didn’t do this in some sort of ironic hipster way, I was just being an arrogant, elitist dickhead and scowling at anyone who said otherwise.
Satan released one of the best NWOBHM albums with Court in the Act in 1983. They released their sophomore album in 1987 and then disbanded, seeing two of the members go on to form the folk metal band Skyclad.
So here we are 30 years later and Terrorizer is streaming the new Satan album titled Life Sentence. It sounds like the perfect successor to Court in the Act sonically and musically. The production nails the old NWOBHM sound while still being polished. Brian Ross is in fine form vocally and the rest of the band spits fire.
You can stream it at the end of this post.
Life Sentence is out April 29 on Listenable Records.
