I guess Sumerian doesn’t officially consider itself a metal label, but they do have a ton of bands that are on the heavier side: Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, and The Faceless, to name a few. But the news that the label’s signed one of the dudes from Bone Thugs N Harmony is kind of alarming. How does a move like this make sense for the rest of the artists on your roster?
Bizzy Bone, who has been shopping around a solo album for years now, has signed with Sumerian. It’s over Johnny…OVER! Label founder Ash Avildsen defends the move.
“The album is incredible! Anyone who has closely followed the label knows that we have never been one dimensional in the bands we have signed and the records we have released,” he says. “While we have been making a meaningful impact on the current state of heavy music, the true theme to Sumerian has always been about progressive music, not just metal. Bizzy Bone is one of the most progressive vocalists I have ever heard.”
Hmmm. Apparently, this dude lived on the streets of Los Angeles for years before returning to music. He was originally discovered by Easy E from NWA. What is this move? Oh, and hey, I didn’t wanna put any pics of Bizzy up on Gun Shy, so I wanted to get a picture of Selena Gomez in instead…because today, she turned 18. And that, my friends, is worth noting.
