Holy fuck, do I ever have a killer fucking tune for you ingrates to rock out with this afternoon!
It’s called “Leatherneck” and is by a band out of Arkansas called Terminus, my new favorite band.
If you’re into Black Sabbath-sized riffage, Mastodon’s groovier and proggier elements, and the layered, wall-of-sound epic jams of Kylessa, then Terminus will certainly strike a chord with you.
Terminus is just a good band, plain and simple. They know what they’re doing with their tools, the lead singer can belt it out with the best of them, and the songs on the band’s first, self-titled release — which I have been blasting since yesterday morning — grab hold of you and refuse to let go.
At once familiar and new, these kids (the oldest dude in the band is 18, if you can believe that) pen life-affirming songs unburdened by the race for the trve.
As a press release says, Terminus “display something obvious and awesome with their music…a love of good song, approached with no agenda, no rules and no fear.”
If you don’t like this song, you’re seriously in the wrong fucking place. Pitchfork’s that way, butthead.
Terminus was released this week, and can be ordered on CD and as a digital download through the Mutants of the Monster’s Bandcamp.
