I happen to think Gene Hoglan is the bee’s knees. His work with Strapping Young Lad, Dethklok, Fear Factory, Death, Dark Angel, and Old Man’s Child is just disgusting, and Gene is really just a salt of the Earth dude.
Now, Gene is back working with Testament.
The San Francisco Bay thrash act just entered the studio with British producer Andy Sneap to begin recording their new album for a late 2011 release.
Drummer Paul Bostaph will not be able to record the new disc with the band, due to an unspecified “serious injury.” He will be rejoining the band on tour after the record drops. Our buddy Chris Adler from Lamb of God will also reportedly make a special guest appearance on a couple of bonus tracks.
Hoglan previously played drums on Testament’s 1997 album, Demonic, but didn’t end up touring with the guys.
