What a fucking week? First Exhumed return, and tomorrow, I’m seeing Faith No More in Brooklyn. Now, Swedish death metal monsters The Crown are returning with a new disc. The band have inked a deal with Century Media and guitarist Marko Tervonen claims The Crown “are happy as hell to turn a new page in The Crown’s history book and to pick up the journey with Century Media Records supporting us feels great.”
The band’s already got a new album called Doomsday King on the way. No concrete word on when it will drop, beyond “this fall.” My immediate thought was, “Hmmm…kinda similar to the name of that awful Arch Enemy record, no?”
You may recall that The Crown first formed as Crown of Thorns. They were forced to change their name in 1998 because of that awesome New York hardcore band Crown of Thornz. To me, that lawsuit was pure bullshit. There was clearly a “Z” at the end of the U.S. band’s name. That’s like saying someone can’t start a lame ass band called Limp Biscuit. The band broke up in 2004, and decided last year to reform.
