Last year, The Empire Shall Fall released their debut disc, Awaken, but you could only get the disc at the band’s shows or through the band’s Web site. The Empire Shall Fall is fronted by former Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach and the album is fantastic — the kind of record you listen to all the way through, without feeling that itch to skip tracks.
But thanks to a new deal with Restricted Release and Angle Side Side, Awaken will be released to record stores nationwide on October 12, making the disc more widely available to potential fans.
If you were a fan of Killswitch with Jesse, this is mandatory listening. Its the first metal album dude’s had a hand in since he bolted from KsE years ago, forcing the band to find his replacement in Howard Jones, who may or may not have knocked up a porn star.
“We all couldn’t be more than happy that this record has gained enough attention to make it to this level of exposure,” Leach says in a statement. “We are proud that our DIY band and our self produced/released record has the potential to reach so many more listeners. Our hope is that a great deal of people will be able to see the passion and message we carry with our music. Fight the good fight!”
The Empire Shall Fall are expected to announce a series of new live shows to support the retail release of Awaken and the band has already begun writing material for their second disc, which should be out in early 2011.
