I usually don’t give Christian metal bands a fair shot. I bring my prejudices with me when listening to new discs by Christian metal bands. Simply put, I don’t think you need to advertise your religious beliefs if you’re in a band. That should not matter.
And for the most part, there’s just something missing for me when it comes to Christian metal. I feel like they’re just not edgy enough — like they’re holding back, somehow. Just my opinion folks.
I also feel like being a Christian death metal band is basically a contradiction in terms. But I will give the new one from The Famine a chance because it was mixed by my buddy Jason Suecof, who has worked with everyone from Trivium to Job For a Cowboy.
The new disc is called The Architects of Guilt and it drops sometime this fall on Solid State. It will be the band’s first disc since 2008’s The Raven and the Reaping.
