Holy fucking fuck! That was my first thought whilst watching this video, which I chose not to post here because it’s fucking graphic. I’ve had a ton of injuries and breaks and cuts over the years. I once sliced my finger to the bone while working in a restaurant, and this video dropped my fucking jaw. I winced in pain for dude because…you know this had to hurt.
Guitarist Tim Carley was on tour with his band, U.K.-based death metal outfit The Rotted (who you should check out), when a 132-pound flight case fell out of a van, and smashed his motherlickin’ finger.
Carley was rushed to the hospital and doctors had to remove the damaged part of the finger, including the nail and the torn flesh. Next, doctors sewed the remaining parts of the mangled appendage back together.
The incident has actually detached the top of Tim’s finger bone from the rest of his finger. Doctors said he should heal in about ten weeks.
Then, Carley issued this kick-ass, very metal statement; the kind you’d expect to get from a dude whose finger was crushed and maimed: “Unlike half the musicians in metal magazines, I’m not a moaning little girl, so I’m playing Obscene Extreme, Dong Open Air and Bloodstock with three fucking fingers and there’s nothing that fate, karma and all the other bastards that mock me can do about it. The power of d-beats, blast beats and heavy metal shall never die!”
