Thin Lizzy — still reeling from the death of Gary Moore — have tapped Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus to take over temporarily for Vivian Campbell, who will be returning to his duties in Def Leppard next month.
Fortus joined Thin Lizzy on stage Friday (April 1) at the Vic Theatre in Chicago and will take over for Campbell after Lizzy’s May 28 concert at Ireland’s Slaine Castle.
Campbell posted the news on Facebook: “Well, that was it: my last U.S. show with Lizzy — and it was a great one to end on. New guitarist Richard Fortus came and played a couple of songs. I have one final gig with them in Ireland, and the very next day we start Def Lep rehearsals.”
That’s cool. Fortus can handle his tool, and Thin Lizzy could benefit from such a pairing, in so much as he may elevate the energy level up there among all those oldies.
