Topps Archive Baseball Cards To Feature ’80s Metal Icons

Scott Ian

A set of 10 cards, featuring metal luminaries from across the 1980s, will be inserted as part of the 2013 Topps Archives baseball set.

Anthrax’s Scott Ian will be one of the cards, and recently spoke to ESPN’s “Mint Condition” about the “Heavy Metal Autographs” cards.

“I was definitely excited,” Ian said.

“I collected cards as a kid and years ago, in the late ’80s, they did these rock cards and I thought that was cool,” he says, “but to find out I had an actual Topps card, the only way I can describe it is like going from the minors to the majors. I finally made it to the big show.”

Who else is featured on the cards?

Axl Rose, Sebastian Bach, Kip Winger, Tommy Lee, Lita Ford, Dee Snider, Bobbie Brown (the blonde broad from Warrant’s “Cherry Pie” video…cause she’s relevant) and some dude from Whitesnake.

Those Topps cards will hit stores next week.
