I no longer have cable so I didn’t watch the Grammys last night, but probably wouldn’t have watched even if I had cable.
The closing of the show was handled by the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac.
They teamed up for a collaborative performance of NIN’s “Copy Of A” and Queens Of The Stone Age’s “My God Is The Sun.”
The show allegedly ran long, so the all-star jam was interrupted by voice overs promoting the Grammys’ various sponsors. The credits also rolled over the live performance.
And Reznor was not happy, and I don’t blame him.
“Music’s biggest night… to be disrespected. A heartfelt FUCK YOU guys,” Reznor Tweeted out.
I’d post footage, but the Grammys has blocked such videos from YouTube.
I did hear Metallica’s performance of “One” with Lang Lang on the Howard Stern show today, and holy fuck, was that unlistenable.
Classical piano over “One?” It didn’t work and sounded disjointed. Like two records were being played simultaneously.
The Grammys — will they ever get it right?
