If you’re a lover of straight-up, balls-to-the-wall heavy metal that touches upon everything there is you love about the genre, holy fuck do I have a band for you.
The other day, I was introduced to the band and was given the chance to listen to their self-released sophomore LP, In the Shadow of Swords, and I’ve gotta admit it: I did not lose interest at any point.
The album grabs a hold of your ears and refuses to let go until your ass submits.
They kind of remind me of Lamb of God and Soilwork, but really, what the fuck do I know?
Answer: Quite a lot, actually.
Trials hail from Chicago, and there sound is powerful, melodic at times, and even thrashy.
In the Shadow of Swords is the band’s first recording to feature guitarist Ryan Bruchert, formerly of Hewhocorrupts. It drops in early May.
The album was tracked at Wall 2 Wall Studios in Chicago and at Trials’ home studio with mixing and mastering courtesy of Lasse Lammert at LSD Studios in Lübeck, Germany.
Here now is a song off that release. Enjoy it.
Trust me — you should enjoy it.
