Ya know that band The Faceless that just can’t keep a current lineup? Personally, I think they’re the shit, but I have a feeling Michael Keene is just impossible to get along with, as he’s the only original member of the band left in an ever-morphing band.
Hey, when someone leaves the Faceless…do they get their face back?
About a year ago, one of the previous drummers, Lyle Cooper, said “sayonara” to Keene. Turns out Coop had a sideband called Absvrdist, which is now his primary focus.
If it isn’t, it should be, because this grindcore project rips harder than Jersey guidettes tearing at each other’s weaves in a fight over whose lip gloss is shinier.
On their inaugural 2012 full-length Illusory, Absvrdist displays unrepentant distaste for the modern human condition. It’s not so much about blood and guts like a lot of grind bands gravitate towards, so it’s a breath of fresh air that quickly becomes polluted by the mistakes of humans.
Although a former member of the Faceless is in the band, don’t expect tech-death, even in the drum compositions. Absvrdist is a meticulously developed hardcore project sped up and intensified to maximum capacity. If you like Pig Destroyer, Ringworm, or All Pigs Must Die, Absvrdist is a must listen.
So go. Listen. You must.
