This is fucking bizarre. I guess Jim Daley went to the RockStar Energy UpRoar Tour — or saw an advertisement in his local paper for it when the tour rolled through a nearby state (because that shit did not stop in Kentucky…I checked) — and thought, “Gee…those oafish scallywags looks like ruffians…straight hooligans. The kind of men Steve Franzen would defend.”
That’s because according to my pals Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery over at MTV News, Daley cut and pasted members of the various bands and put them on fliers, trying to paint his opponent as the kind of dude who has dealings with criminals. Sounds like someone’s going to get sued by Disturbed.
Both incumbent Daley and Franzen are vying for Campbell County attorney in Kentucky and this week, Daley released the slanderous flier with the following verbiage: “It’s a fact: Steve Franzen has made a living defending criminals charged with: child pornography, unlawful transactions with minors, custodial interference, assaults on police officers, drug trafficking, and the list goes on … Now he wants you to trust him to be your County Attorney? He’s gotta be kidding.”
Yeah, and there’s pictures of Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour. Which means this fuck nut standing there in a yellow shirt so loud I can hear it, with his arms around his innocent, tight little daughter, thinks Disturbed’s members look like child pornographers, Stone Sour look like cop killers, and Avenged Sevenfold look like junkies. Even without The Rev.
A publicist for the band — most likely — told MTV News that the band was not approached for the use of their image in the flier (because if they’d been approached, they’d have said yes) and “added that the band has sent a cease-and-desist order demanding Daley ‘immediately stop distributing the flier and destroy any remaining copies in his possession.’” Reps for Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment on the story.
Hey Daley…you’re a fucking idiot. I hope you didn’t really want to keep that office of yours, because there’s a lot of Disturbed fans in Kentucky. Let’s hope they’re registered to vote.
