Man, I love Vision of Disorder. Always have, always will. But I spoke with Tim Williams last year about the band’s comeback album, and at that time, they had 10 songs written for the new record. I feel like we’ve been waiting forever for new V.O.D., and we still have to wait, because these dudes still haven’t hit the studio to start tracking the new record.
I guess it just takes V.O.D. a while to write songs. Or maybe they’re just trying to write something too perfect. I don’t know. But I’m starting to lose patience with you, Francis. I want this record yesterday, and I feel like V.O.D. need to stop playing shows and just get this thing recorded and find a label for it. Come on, guys — we’ve waited long enough.
In a new interview with Horns Up Rocks, Williams announced that the band will finally be hitting the studio the middle of next month, but will only record five songs. Huh?
“We’re gonna go in and we’re only gonna record five songs for now, ‘cause we really don’t feel like we’re in the proper headspace to really push out a whole record, even though we have the proper material to do so,” Williams says. Five songs they will then shop to labels. Then, around Christmas, more shows.
But Timmy says the record has to be done and be out early next year. “We just wanna record these songs so we get the right deal in place. And we already have one offer that’s dope, and we’ll see what happens. Hopefully we’ll be recording in the winter, and then it’ll be out.” Ten bucks says they end up on E1. I just have a feeling.
Last year, Tim told me “we’re not rushing too much” and that two of the songs he was most proud of were “At Arm’s Length” and “Annihilator.” He also told me the songs they’ve finished so far “sound very VOD, kind of old Imprint-y type songs, but with a new, good energy to them. Raw. Good stuff. There’s elements of VOD-style hardcore in a couple of songs, which is exciting to see again.”
