I read this on Bravewords today, and my first thought was, “What a dumbass!” This dude, named Jamie Woods, who successfully spearheaded a petition to get Metallica to play Christchurch, New Zealand, isn’t going to make the show he helped bring to his country.
He claims he’s “absolutely slaughtered” that he missed out on buying tickets. He claims he couldn’t get to the venue in time to buy tickets, and wasn’t quick enough to pick up a ticket online.
“I’m resigned to the fact I’m not going,” Woos says. “In the end I got what I wanted, that was for them to come down. I hope everyone else is happy, the lucky buggers.”
Can’t Metallica figure out some way to get this dude in for the show? After all, the guy worked hard to get 11,300 signatures in one day on a petition to get the world’s biggest band to play in his area. Tickets for the gig sold off in five minutes.
This just fucking sucks. The poor guy gets Metallica to play in his ‘hood and he can’t get tickets. That’s fucked beyond reproach Maybe he could stand outside in the parking lot, or put his ear to the venue door to hear the show at least. I don’t know. If I was so pumped I went out and started a petition to get a band to play in a venue near me, I would make sure I got fucking tickets.
