WhatApp Free Download and Use on Mac via WhatsMac

WhatsApp has grown fast and now it has over 800 million active users who are chatting with people from all over the world, for free. However, there is one thing that is missing on this great application. WhatsApp doesn’t have a full version for desktop devices, which is a big minus.

For now, WhatsApp is available for iOS, Symbian, Nokia S40, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone. So, even if it covers all popular mobile operating systems, it doesn’t have a full version for Mac, Windows or Linux.

However, the developers have brought the WhatsApp Web feature to the application, which allows you to connect from your desktop device to your WhatsApp account via Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera web browsers.

WhatsApp Web on Mac

iMessage, along with many other messaging applications, can be installed on Macs. However, in case you are at home and you’re using your Mac device and there are friends who are bugging you on WhatsApp, it can be quite annoying, because you will lose a lot of time typing to them via your smartphone. But what if you can log into your WhatsApp account on your Mac device?

We remind you that WhatsApp Web is available for Windows Phone, Blackberry and Android and for now, WhatsApp on iOS doesn’t offer this feature. WhatsApp’s developers explained that they can’t bring this feature to the iOS because some limitations from Apple.

In order to log into a WhatsApp account on your Mac device, you will need to have a smartphone that supports the WhatsApp Web feature. (in case you own an iPhone, you will need to have a jailbroken iOS and install the WhatsApp Web Enabler tweak from Cydia).

So, log into your WhatsApp account on your mobile device and after that tap on Menu and select “WhatsApp Web” (keep the feature open, because you will need to scan a QR code with it). After that, open Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera browser on your Mac device (keep in mind that for now only these three browsers are supporting WhatsApp Web), head to web.whatsapp.com and scan the QR code using your mobile smartphone. Once you scan the QR code, you will be automatically logged into your WhatsApp account on your Mac device.

HINT: The downside of this feature is that you will still need to leave the mobile device connected to the internet and the WhatsApp application needs to stay open. However, by using it, you will be able to type faster using the keyboard from your Mac device.
