I’m not into yoga at all. People tell me I’d benefit from it, as I need to fucking relax.
But I don’t think I’d be relaxing much with Neda Draupadi Honarvar, the owner of Tough Love Yoga and the creator of Metal Yoga.
She is the subject of this article, which talks about her “heavy metal yoga” classes which are offered four times a week at her studio in Atlanta; each class costs $10.
The class description: “Listen to metal. Do yoga. Melt your face off in a very relaxing and healing way.”
Honarvar, who is described as “a muscular woman in her thirties with jet black hair,” explains that “some of her male friends said they would only try yoga if metal music played during class.”
She called their bluff, introducing Metallica, Neurosis, and Isis to her yoga class.
It seems the music isn’t blasted during the class. Metal must be blasted at all times. I call false.
Tough Love Yoga is located on Dekalb Avenue, next to the Radial Cafe.
